One certain way to make money online is by blogging. Making blogging an everyday activity is really not such an easy task. Blogging for fun is quite easier since you are simply doing it for leisure and satisfaction for sharing your blog contents with the world.
How then do you make money online by blogging even if you ae in Nigeria? Wel it requires that you turn your blog or website into a money making machine. While there has been opinions for and against blog monetization, the bottom line is tat a labourer seserves his wages and if one could make money while bloging, why not?
Nigeria is a great country tha is rich not just in human and natural resources but also in search keywords. Day by day the number of internet users in Nigeria keeps increasing and they mostly go to search engines like Google to search for information.
Building a blog around thos keywords can be quite lucrative.. Keywords are like a goldmine and when you have them in your favour, you will see yourself making money on a daily basis. In order to make money online by blogging, you've got to build a blog content around keywords or topics that you can write about.
Some popular keywords includes Nigerian movies, Nigerian news, Genevieve Nnaji, Van vicker et.c. One may also group keywords into varying categories like Education, Banking, Finance, Jobs e.t.c. All those keywords are great and can help monetize a blog. If you can optimize your blog to rank high on popular search keywords, then you would quickly be making daily liveable inocme from your blog if you also include online advertisement.
So how do you really make money blogging in Nigeria?
Well here's how to do this:
- You need a blog. First set up a with blogging capabilities. You could include wordpress or other blogging software if your web host does not support it.
- Blog everyday on commonly searched topics
- Sign up with Google adsense or Adbrite to monetize your blog
- Stick the ad codes on your web pages or software
- You will be receiving a monthly payment by foregin cheque if your earnings for the month reaches the minimum payment level and you can cash this foreign cheque in a domicilliary account
When you decide that you want to start blogging and making money from it, first select a niche or theme or category of topics which you can blog about consistently and try to focus and recycle popular topics (Those that receive the msot comments).
Tip: If you know a bit of IT or tech stuff, you should focus on that niche as it is more profitable. Same with sotkcs and Insurance or health topics.

This is inspiring but I don't know if anyone can make real money from it except some small change. I have been blogging for a year now but the problem I have been having is how to increase my adsense earnings. It is as low as $20 a month and hardly rising. Is there any magical formula to just move it upwards?

I am thinking of starting an IT related blog but don't know if to focus on the local Nigerian IT industry of just make it a global blog. Which one would be more profitable or sustainable?

Well given that the IT industry is already saturated with a lot of online blogs and you would hardly be able to break into the market, I would advise that you focus on the local market. This is because you would have a better advantage since you are living in Nigeria and know what the market is like. You know what people would most likely be searching for and try to make it related also to Telecoms as it will help bring more traffic to your site

It may cost you at least N10,000 to set up a blog and all it requires is a domain name, web hosting and you blogging software for example Wordpress.
Once you have all these, then what you need next is content and you can get this by just writing it

Blogging can be fun if you are actually making money with it. That itself will give enough motivation to keep blogging since it shows that your audience values your blog. Now I've heard of blogs that are not set up for money, what gives those bloggers any motivation to keep blogging?

There are different reasons why people blog. Although most people today tend to do it for money while others claim they do it for fun or just to boost their profile or help keep in touch with their customers, but what I've found out is that it is ultimately for profit in one way or the other. It may not be in financial terms.

steve yegge - is a popular blogger on the I.T side . his writings are respected and yu dont find no adsense ads on his page.
so what's the motive?
simple: having something to say, speaking your mind.
same motive that makes people create all the free (free as in zero cost) software on the internet .
