MTN offers a prepaid mobile data plan in Nigeria to subscribers and this allows them to access the web using their sim cards on platforms such as GPRS, Edge, 3G and higher.

Normally, before an MTN customer would be able get a prepaid data plan, he would need to subscribe for it first using the airtime balance on his SIM.

Subscribing to a prepaid data plan on MTN Nigeria requires the user sending a text message to 131 using the prescribed code for the data plan. For instance, to subscribe to a 1 day data plan for N100, he just needs to send 104 to 131 and he would be put on that plan which expires after the data has been used up or the 24 hrs has elapsed.

Nowadays, however, some prepaid data plans do come with automatic renewal and this means that as long as the subscriber has sufficient airtime credit on his SIM, his previous prepaid data plan would be renewed once the time limit for his subscription has elapsed.

How do you stop your prepaid MTN mobile data plan from automatically renewing itself once the time frame fo the subscription you initiated has expired?

Well, it is easy. Just Send No to 131 in a text message and your auto renewal or subscription will stop.

If you are already subscribed to a prepaid mobile data service, the best thing you can do is wait until it expires because I'm not sure there is a code to cancel a subscription you've already paid for and there are no refunds even if you do cancel it before the expiry date.

So, to cancel it from automatic renewal, just send Send No to 131 but to cancel an unexpired subscription, you should just be patient until it expires.
