Would you rather get a Video player or a Pay TV decoder? Well, there are some benefits of having a Pay TV decoder over a Video player and there are also advantages which a video player has over a Pay TV decoder.
In Nigeria, there seems to be an increasing love for Pay TV decoders as they allow owners to pay for watching selected TV channels on a periodic tv but I think that the fact that paying to watch TV itself should be a demerit unlike what obtains from watching videos you already own for life on a Video player. Why then does it seem as if having a Pay TV decoder has some advantages over a Video player? Well, I'm going to mention a few of the reasons below.
First of all is the issue of space. You don't need much space when using a Pay TV decoder unlike when using a Video player since the latter tends to require that you also have space to store your Video records such as VHS tapes, VCD plates or hard drives. Pay TV decoders tend to occupy a single space and allows data to be downloaded to the device while you watch and so it uses less space.
Secondly, a Pay TV decoder gives an active subscriber a wider range of videos than a Video player. With the decoder, you can access hundreds of channels and be able to watch thousands of movies unlike a Video player which will be a bit limited in the number of videos you can watch.
A Pay TV decoder also allows you to watch live events as they happen and you also get to watch the news. You can't get live events on a VCD or VCR Video player since they only play already recorded events.
A video player on the other hand does have some advantages over a pay tv decoder such as not having to pay monthly fees for watching videos. With a video player, you pay once for videos you want to watch just by buying them from retail stores.
A video recorder also has another advantage over a decoder such as being able to work irrespective of the weather condition. A pay tv decoder relies on external signals and weather condition in order to be able to work efficiently.
Would you rather then go for a Pay TV decoder or say with your Video player? Well, many people nowadays seem more attracted to pay tv decoders since they require less space, gives access to almost unlimited number of videos, offers a wider variety and also streams live events.
