More people around the world now buy from Chinese based merchants thanks to Aliexpress and Alibaba. What I particularly like about Aliexpress is their affordable shipping costs which are normally made by postal mail.

An international shopper who orders for a product from Aliexpress would normally make a payment forward which will be held by Aliexpress until the buyer receives and is actually satisfied with the product. The buyer normally would indicate that he has received and is satisfied with the product after receiving it by clicking an approval button on the order page or by simply allowing a time period to elapse. That is what buyer protection on Aliexpress is really about.

Aliepxress will hold your payments and not pay out to the seller until you have confirmed you are satisfied or only after a maximum number of days have passed. Within those days, it is expected that you have recieved your order and don't have any complaints about it.

As a buyer, one of the ways you can protect yourself if by taking advantage of the buyer protection period to make your complaints to Aliexpress(if any) before or after you've received the goods.

There might be times when you've ordered for a product on Aliexpress but might not have received it or have received it but it's not working or conforms to the offer details. You have a right to raise an issue on the order so taht the seller doesn't get paid as long as you do it within your buyer protection period.

I've made several orders on Aliexpress and have to confess that it's not al of them that I've received even after making payments in advance. What I normally do is raise a complaint against the seller from my account order history and tell them what the issue is about. It might be that the seller has not even shipped the item and if he has, it will be shown on the tracking history of the postal service e.g. Hongkong post, Singapore post or others.

What I normally do when I have a problem like that with an order is to complain to Aliexpress by opening up the order history for the product and clicking on the button that says "Open dispute". You will be asked to select what the dispute is about and you can choose item not received if that is the problem. You will also request for a refund if it's evident that the seller is not being honest for instance if has not shipped the goods and time is running out.

With Aliexpress, you can open a dispute on the 6th day after you placed your order.

If you've already paid money for the order and the order has not yet shipped but your buyer protection period is running out, you can choose to open a dispute and request for a full refund.

I've once requested for a full refund and the money was paid back into my bank account from Aliexpress within 7 or 8 days after I made the request with the full value.
