Nowadays, its becoming common in Nigeria to use a power/battery bank to store energy for later use and we use it for doing things like recharge our mobile phones, tablets and laptops.
Power banks are really the ideal solution for people who live in a country where there is still inefficient power supply as you don't always expect power if you were living in Nigeria.
Thanks to power banks, I can now keep my mobile phone and other small electronics that run on rechargeable batteries for 24 hrs of the day.
A power bank works by first of all accepting to be charged and it stores that electric energy until you want to use it to recharge other smaller batteries such as the one in your mobile phone. I have a
10,000 mah power bank that I normally like keeping charged up and I could use it for up to 7 or 8 times to recharge my phone before having to recharge it again by plugging it to the wall socket or my solar charger.
However, as a result of the fact that the Power company has been unreliable for some days and thankfully I also have a foldable solar panel which I hang on my window, I'm always able to charge my power bank without having to rely on the power company or generators. Yes, solar chargers are a green source of getting electricity.
How I do it

1. I hang my standalone
ReVIVE ReStore RA 4 Portable 14 Watt Folding Solar Charger on my window and facing the sun
2. I connect my power bank to the solar panel using an
Amazonbasics micro-USBA USB 2.0 Micro USB to USB Cable - 3 Feet (0.9 Meters) with my power bank inside my room and in a cool place
3. I leave to charge for a day or two.
4. I later use another micro USB to USB cable to connect my phone to the power bank for charging when I use it
The above setup allows me to charge my phone in the evenings when the power bank is no longer being charged and at my own convenience. So my power bank stores the electric charge generated from the solar charger during the day while I use a bit of it during the night If I need to. It is that easy and I don't need NEPA/PHCN or a generator for charging small gadgets for my phone. I'm even thinking of getting a bigger solar panel and an inverter battery system so that I can generate more power from the sun to power my TV.
Using a solar charger is much better than using generators just to charge small gadgets for your phone. Also, using a solar panel and a deep cycle battery plus an inverter could help you generate sufficient electrical energy to power small electronics like your TV and decoder without the need for relying on the Power company and it's a noiseless setup that saves money in the long run.
