Many barbing salons and men in Nigeria make use of hair clippers to help them stay well groomed and looking good. A man who doesn't shave his hair in our world of today is normally regarded as irresponsible or unattractive and so a lot of men normally try to shave themselves at home or a salon just to keep looking good.

When it comes to shaving of the hair, the most commonly used machine to do this in Nigeria are the electronic hair clippers and brands like Wahl, Chaoba, Andis, Conair and Philips are among the popular ones but one weakness with them all is that they require constant supply of electricity to keep working.

If you live in a country like Nigeria where the power sector is still not fully efficient, it would be a wise decision to have a backup power system that will keep your electronics working when the power goes off and that's one thing that makes rechargeable much better than ordinary hair clippers.

Ordinary hair clippers require constant supply of electricity from the power company a.k.a. NEPA to keep working but rechargeable hair clippers can keep working even when NEPA disappoints with its service.

Imagine a situation when you are shaving your hair at home or a salon and suddenly, NEPA takes away the power, your hair will only be partially shaved until a backup power has been provided and indeed, many barbing salons in Nigeria keep a standby power generator.

One problem however with power generators is that they need fuel to work and that basically increases the cost of the barber who in most cases transfers the cost to his client. Apart from the cost of running a barbing salon with generators, there is also a lot of waste in power supply since the power supplied by the running generator in most cases exceed the power used by the electronic hair clippers and this amounts to a waste of fuel for generating power. Most power generators can power up to 10 hair clippers and so it won't make economic sense to run them with just 1 or 2 clippers.

Rather than run a generator just to power one or two electronic hair clippers, it would have been better to make use of rechargeable hair clippers that have been charged with electricity supplied from NEPA.

Rechargeable hair clippers are also called Cordless clippers because they can do their work without the need for a cord or wire attached to it as it's a wireless electronic device. Cordless clippers save energy while being charged while they release it when it's being used. A cordless or rechargeable hair clipper which has a battery life of say 1 hr may need to be first charged for 1 hr or more in order to be fully charged. A rechargeable clipper normally has a light indicator that shows red or green when it is charged or fully charged.

It is a well known fact that the cost of generating electricity using a private power generator is much more than the cost of paying electricity bills supplied by the power company since they've generated power for the masses and so have reduced the cost of producing it.

Apart from the increased cost of having a hair cut at home or at a barbing salon using a power generator, there is also the issue of increasing fuel costs as well as periodic scarcity of the product.

I was at a barbing salon recently to have a hair cut and this was during the fuel scarcity. I was told beforehand by the barber that the price has been increased by 50% and so I agreed to go ahead with it. I later asked him why they don't make use of rechargeable clippers rather than powering their clippers with power generators and he said that even if he used it, they don't operate for long hours and I simply told him that if he wanted it for long hours, he could just buy more units or buy a single one that has a longer battery life.

Some rechargeable hair clippers can operate for 1 hour before needing a recharge while some can operate for longer hours and it all basically depends on the battery life. Besides, you could buy more than 1 unit and keep them all charged if you wanted to use it for commercial purpose like a barbing salon.

For many Nigerian men who like shaving their beard or trimming their hair at home, office or on the road, they should just make use of rechargeable hair clippers that are designed just for that. You don't have to go to the barbing salon all the time jut to shave your beard when you can do it yourself.

I've seen a lot of rechargeable hair clippers being sold on several online shopping websites such as Amazon, Aliexpress, Jumia, Konga and Dealdey. The ones I love however are the Wahl 79600-2101 Lithium Ion Cordless Clipper and the Silver Andis 32375 Power Trim Cordless Trimmer.

What is the price of rechargeable hair clippers in Nigeria? Well, the prices range depending on the brand and quality. The prices range from $20 to $100 and I guess the ones that cost more tend to work much better and are of higher quality.
