Access bank of Nigeria now has a USSD based service that allows GSM subscribers to buy airtime credit for their accounts by simply dialing the USSD code *901*Amount#. Yes, it's that easy!

In the not too distant past, many GSM subscribers in Nigeria were stressing themselves to reload their airtime credit by doing things like scratching a recharge card with their nails, entering and dialing long digit PINs. As time passed a bit, some smart ones also started using ATMs and internet banking to buy airtime credit but thigns have changed now and they can do this from anywhere they are in Nigeria.

What I love about Access bank's innovative service also called EASY TOP-UP is that it's a free service as there are no hidden charges except for MTN subscribers who need to have at least N1 or N2 credit before accessing the USSD option.

Dialing a USSD code such as *901*Amount# is a much easier and faster way to buy airtime top up and you can do this from your phone as long as there is a network connection.

How does it work? Well, the Access bank customer jsut need to dial *901*amount# from his bank registered phone and he'd receive a reply that the service requested for is in progress. A few seconds later, he would get an SMS from MTN VTU indicating that the airtime credit has been loaded and he'd also get another SMS from his bank indicating that his Access bank account has been debited with that same amount he requested for.

Are there any limits? Well, yes. I think for the sake of security and avoiding abuse, there is a minimum limit of N50 and a maximum of limit of N5000 per day when using Access bank's Easy top up service.

Does it work for all networks? Yes it does as you can use it with your MTN, Glo, Airtel and Etisalat SIM as long as it's the same number that is registered with your Access bank account and you normally receive SMS alerts on it.

So, what this means is that you no longer need to buy recharge cards, visit an ATM, use internet banking or tell a vendor to send you VTU as you can do this yourself by dialing *901*Amount#.

Let's assume you want to load N500 to your phone form your Access bank account, then you just need to dial *901*500# and the recharge value of N500 will be credited to your phone in a few secs.
