A lot of Nigerians now pay for their DSTV subscription online because it is an easy and convenient means of renewing one's subscription since you don't have to spend money on transport to physically visit a DSTV office or agent to stand in line before doing it. With a click of a button, you can simply do it online thanks to Quickteller. However, at times, there might be hiccups to the service which Quickteller or Interswitch offers. Most payments done on Quickteller are processed by Interswitch and there might be times when after making a payment, your DSTV account still doesn't renewed. It's not normal and probably as a result of inefficiency on the part of the payment processor like your bank or Interswitch.
I've had an experience like that before and I was a bit disappointed that my bank account was debited while DSTV says that I'm yet to pay and so cut off my subscription. It's even worse when you make the payment before your subscription expires only for it to still expire without being renewed. Then, you not only have to deal with first making a complaint to them but also have to go for some days without watching DSTV. You also have to commit more resources like your business time, your airtime or internet service for just making an official complaint to Quickteller and your bank. It's basically not your fault and yet, there is no compensation paid to you by them for the stress they've given you and for your extra resources they've used because of their inefficiency. I guess that's one of the reasons why some Nigerians are still skeptical about doing business online and so prefer the old school method of making physical appearances for business transactions. Mine happened when I used the Quickteller app and I don't know if I'm going to keep using it again.
What do you do when faced with this problem? What do you do when you make an online payment at Quickteller to renew your DSTV subscription and yet your DSTV account was not renewed?
Well, the normal thing to do is make a phone call or send an email to your bank and Quickteller including the reference details for the transaction. It should also include your DSTV smart card number, amount paid and date of the transaction. They should respond back within a few days but if you don't want to wait till then before reactivating your DSTV subscription, you can make another payment while the former one will be credited to your account for the next month. You may also opt to rather have a refund to your bank account rather than having them extend your DSTV subscription if they allow that as part of the resolution. They should issue you an apology and a refund or extension later on by the time they are through with their investigation.
When issues like this arise, it's normally the customer that is the victim because he's done everything he ought to do as part of the agreement to get his DSTV subscription renewed and one only wonders why payment processing for simple things like DSTV subscriptions tend to have hiccups from time to time on the Quickteller website.
