If you are in Nigeria and used to using the internet, one of the things you may have come across is inability to access certain websites or services as a result of the fact that you are using a Nigerian IP address. There is nothing wrong with having a Nigerian IP address if you are really in Nigeria but you may need to change it if you have to have unrestricted access to certain services and websites that are only available to residents in foreign countries.
For example, someone might have a foreign Paypal account and decides to visit Nigeria. He will be unable to have access to that same Paypal account without getting blocked unless he uses an IP address that is similar to the country for which he opened it. An eBay account is another example and it's a website that is mostly available only to US residents and they make use of IP restrictions to avoid residents from foreign countries such as Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya to have access to it because they want to protect Us buyers and sellers. However, that doesn't exactly mean that someone resident in Nigeria can never buy things from eBay but one thing he may really need to change is his IP address.
I've also visited certain service and product oriented websites that I was blocked from accessing as a result of my Nigerian IP address which was normal but I was still able to access it because I was signed up for a IP address service.
When you are signed up with a dedicated IP address service, you will be able to change your Nigerian IP address to that of any of the major countries of the world and be able to visit websites and access services you initially were not able to visit with a Nigerian IP address because you will be able to change your IP address.
First of all, what I did was to get a Naira card from my bank and used it to subscribe for a monthly or year dedicated IP address service. I was given a username and password to use to change my IP address and I used it with a VPN connection which i set up from my Windows powered computer. You can set it up using most version of Windows and I've recently also tried it in Windows 10.
I got the IP address settings which allowed me to change to a US IP address and then used it to setup a VPN connection which I would have to use with my internet connection anytime I want to change my IP address.
To setup a VPN connection is easy and all you have to do is go to your control panel and setup a new connection > VPN connection. Enter the username, password and host address given to you and it would be set up. The key to changing your IP address is to first connect to the internet and then connect to the VPN connection which would change your IP address like magic. You can even confirm your new IP address by simply querying Google for "What is my IP address".
