Portable Solar chargers make it easier for a person to charge his electronic devices wherever he is and it's easy to carry about from one place to another. They make use of sunlight and solar cells to create electric current which is then used to charge those mobile devices.
There are 2 main type of Portable solar chargers that I've seen and I'm going to list them below.
Types of Portable Solar chargers:
1. Solar chargers with power banks
2. Solar chargers without power banks
Solar chargers with power banks These are solar chargers that come with an internal power bank as part of it's construction. Electrical charges generated by their solar cells are immediately stored in their power banks and so they can be used to recharge devices later on even when there is no sunlight. They are a bit more expensive than regular solar chargers because they include a battery system for storing power. Some people prefer this system since they don't need to purchase an additional power bank later on.
Solar chargers without power banks This type of portable solar charger doesn't come included with any power or battery bank as the name implies. There is no internal power/battery bank included in it's construction. It's a standalone power bank whose main job is to simply convert sunlight into electricity. The converted electrical charges can either be immediately used or stored for later use by connecting it to a device through a cable. Standalone solar chargers can be connected to an external power bank. It's a bit cheaper than solar power banks since it has no battery included but it gives you more freedom to choose the battery you want to use. Due to it's simple construction, it tends to last longer than solar power banks.
Whether your solar charger comes included with a battery bank or not, the main thing it does it to convert solar energy into electrical energy that is suitable for recharging your devices.
More and more Nigerians are now switching to solar energy for powering their electric devices. You'd hear of things like solar powered light bulbs, solar powered electric fans and solar powered TV sets. Most of those electrical devices can be powered by solar panels and they can help reduce your electric bills while also making you a bit less dependent on an inefficient power company.
