A lot of people now buy things from China through Aliexpress and this includes many people from African countries like Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya and many others where things like Postal mail also works. Aliexpress is a favourite shopping destination for many people because it give them access to a lot of things produced in China at really cool prices. Also, most of those items come with free international shipping cost which may be a bit slower but saves buyers money. Buyers also have the option of getting items much faster by opting for faster delivery services when checking out.
When buying things on Aliexpress from Nigeria, the steps involved are really easy and straightforward if you can read and click some buttons.
Steps involved
===============
1. Visit Aliexpress website
2. Log int your account if you are already registered or first register and log in
3. Browse for the items you want and add it to your cart
4. Click your shopping cart
5. Select your shipping address and ensure it is correct
6. Click the Place order button
7. Enter your payment details such as your card type, card number, expiry date and so on
8. Make payment by clicking Place your order
9. Your order will be placed and your card will be charged afterwards
10. Wait for seller to send your items within 5 days
11. Get a tracking number for your order to use in tracking it until it arrives Nigeria
12. You'll get notified by NIPOST if you used postal mail within 30 to 60 days after you've placed the order and you'll have to go to their office to collect it with a photocopy of a valid ID card and the tracking number.
If you used a faster shipping service like DHL, Fedex or UPS, you'll receive the items at your shipping address.
What happens if you placed and order on Aliexpress, made payment and still did not receive your item from them after 60 days?
You will get constant reminders from Aliexpress about your protection period which would be within that time period and you can raise a dispute if you have not received your order yet. It's best to raise a dispute within that period before it elapses so that you get a refund and not have your funds stolen by a fraudulent seller. So, raise a dispute requesting for a refund before your buyer protection period ends by simply going to your Orders from your Aliexpress account. That is how your protect your money when shopping on Aliexpress. At times the buyer may extend your protection period and you are free to give them some time but always remember to raise a dispute before that time expires so you don't lose your money.
When will my items arrive? Are you concerned about how long it would tale for your package to arrive Nigeria after ordering for it from Aliexpress? Well, you can know the location of our package by simply making use of the tracking number provided by the seller and this is displayed in your order details. You would use the tracking number on the provided website to track the current location of your item. If it says it has arrived Nigeria, then you can know the current post office it's located in by using NIPOST online tracking tool. You would also need to bring the tracking number along with you when going to collect your package from NIPOST.
I just used my tracking number while writing this article to check the status of my recent order on Singapore post website and it says the item is in Nigeria but read "Attempted/Failed Delivery (Country code: NG)". That shows that the item was already in Nigeria and I later checked the NIPOST website tor track it and noticed that it was already at the post office in my local government area. Wow! It appears that my recent Aliexpress order arrived in time because it took about 2 weeks and I still have 43 days of buyer protection available. I may either have to wait for NIPOST to send me a notification or I'll visit them with the tracking number.
