It is great feeling you get when you must have launched your first Wordpress blog. What this involves is that you get a domain name and hosting, then you get the wordpress software and run it on your site.
However, I have come to notice that Wordpress blogs are by default not mobile friendly as you site may get listed and indexed in Google's search results for web but not on the mobile results. This is because you have not yet mobilized your blog yet.
Although there are many available Wordpress mobile plug-ins and extensions which can help mobilize your Wordpress site, the quickest and easy way to do this is by using the available mobile pack that Wordpress.org offers called WPtouch.
Installing WPtouch - mobile plug-inJust log into your Wordpress site and go to plug-ins. It is not yet installed so you click on add new and then enter WPtouch on the search box made available. WPtouch shows up in the results and it shows a detail of what it can do for your blog. Just click on install and confirm the installation prompt. After installation, click on activate and your wordpress blog would be mobile friendly.
Testing your new mobilized blog
Now that you have mobilized your Wordpress blog, the best thing to do is to test it. I think what WPtouch does is to include a css link to your page's template so that it would also be formatted for handheld or other mobile devices.
One easy way to test how you site will look in a mobile device is by using Oprea's stand alone mini simulator.
You can test your mobile site by going to the post I wrote here -
Test your mobile site with Opera Mini simulatorIf it shows a full page view or small texts, then you need to go to the settings and enable mobile viewing. Make sure that the mobile view is on and your site would be viewed as a mobile friendly site.
