Google adsense is begining to open up payment options to countries in Africa and has already included 4 African countries to the list and they include:
Algeria
Kenya
Ghana
The goal is to open up this payment package to other countries soon with Nigeria inclusive. Already much is being said about this issue and how it will ease the burden many Nigerian publishers face when cashing their Google Adsense cheques in Nigeria such that apart from teh 4 - 5 weeks time frame for receivin the cheque, they are still subjected to hidden bank charges as well as another 3 - 4 weeks delay in clearing the cheque in Nigeria.
If and when Google finnally starts paying Nigerian publisher by Western union, it would really solve a lot of problems and would encourage the growth of Adsense in the country.
Nigeria is the country withe the highest number of internet users in Africa and Google stands to make a lot from online advertising. Encouraging online publishers would help the company achieve this easily by introducing Western Union payment options.
I'm thinking that since Google charges around $24 for sennding cheques using secured delivery, they would equally be charging around $50 for Western union payments to the client. I believe that a lot of Adsense publishers would prefer this since cheques would eventually cost around $100 to clear at the bank when you include postage, clearing and withdrawal fees
