Yes it's on! MTN Nigeria has crashed the prices of it's internet service both for mobile and 3g to as low as N100 a day or 24hrs for a maximum of 50MB.
This is probably the cheapest, most affordable and might I say the most reliable internet service in Nigeria which is a country that has the highest internet usage in the whole of Africa.'
MTN Nigeria is one of the top 3 pioneer GSM companies to open up Nigeria's Telecoms market and helped improve efficiency in mobile communication among the good people of Nigeria and this company, which we fancifully nicknamed Yello Yello doesn't appear to be relenting in her efforts in making subscribers.
There has been a lot of promos and benefits users on the MTN network have benefited from and with the last we had was the link packages that perhaps brought a little controversy among users.
Now the latest offer we have from MTN Nigeria is the Mobile Internet package and in this package, there are actually 3 plans starting from N100/day, N400/Week to N1000/month.

Focusing on the N100 a day package, what does this plan really offer?

Well here is what you get with N100 on the MTN Network:
- 10MB
- 24 HRS period

To get on this mobile internet plan, you need:
- To have at least N100 credit in your sim
- To have your phone and sim already configured/setup for MTN GPRS/3G browsing
- Text "104" to 131 for 10MB @ N100/day

Comparing this plan with the old N500/day browsing
Well, for N500 in the old plan you would get
- 50mb as against 10mb in this new plan
- Same 24 hr period

So really it is about the same package that has been repackaged for people who may not be willing to spend more than N100 to check the internet and this would mostly include those who just visit cybercafes to check their emails daily and not for heavy internet users.
However, if you are a heavy internet user, this N100 plan would not be economical for you in the least. The best plan for those who spend as much as say 6 hours a day on the internet would have to be the the N1000/week plan but really that plan could be finished in a day if you go to heavy sites like Youtube.
For Yahoo mail users, one way you could conserve your data bundle of 10mb is by using the mobile friendly version of Yahoo mail, especially if you are browsing from a computer connected to the MTN sim. The mobile version of Yahoo mail can be accessed from m.yahoo.com and it loads much faster than the main Yahoo mail which may take much of your time and quota.

The N100 a day internet plan from MTN Nigeria can work for both mobile phones and your computer however browsing on your mobile would save you costs. You may as well connect your Sim card to the computer to browse fully using MTN fastlink device, 3G USB device or just the mobile phone connected to the computer.
Here are a couple of sites you can connect with easily with your Mobile Internet service from MTN by just using your phone
- Yahoo mail - m.yahoo.com
- Facebook - m.facebook.com
- Google - wap.google.com
- CNN - m.cnn.com
- BBC - bbc.co.uk/news/mobile
- Opera - opera.com/mobile

You might as well download Opera mini from opera.com/mobile and get a whole lot of other bookmarks to browse more conveniently on your MTN Internet empowered mobile phone.
MTN N100 a day browsing really cuts down the costs on internet browsing and if you're one of those still using an unreliable internet service at a public cafe, perhaps it's time you try one of the MTN Internet service plans
