When it comes to SEO, what kind of pages do search engines rank high. When comparing static pages and dynamically generated pages, I have been thinking,"Which of them would Google rank higher in search engine results?"
I have been thinking along that line for some time now and based on my experience, it seem static html pages are more respected.
I have a domain name that focuses on just a keyword phrase but it is a .net domain. The site has net been updated for quite a while now and it only has 7 pages. Curiously too, there is another domain with the same keyword and it is actually a .com domain - It is however powered by smf and has over 5,000 pages which are mostly dynamic. One thing about dynamic pages is that you could keep generating many pages at once you set it up on your site. Dynamic pages also keep on changing over and over as time passes and as people interact with such pages. Pages that are dynamic and keep changing could be user profiles, discussion topics, users online and activity, polls and so on. But with html pages, they tend to remain the same for a long time except when you make any changes to the html code.
Based on my findings, the html static pages tend to rank higher than dynamically powered php pages on search engines as that particular domain of mine has kept on ranking higher than the .com version which has over 5000 dynamic pages.
Analysing static pages
When I say static pages, I realy don't mean only html but even php as long as it remains the same over a long period of time. The thing about html pages is that they are mostly static when compared to php. An example of high ranking static pages I've seen on the web are those article based pages which don't even allow comments and they really rank high on search engines, these include ezinearticles.com and ehow.com.

Conclusion:
I think SEOs should see the benefits of having static pages when trying to achieve a higher ranking for their sites and I'm thinking of setting up sites with this in mind.
