If you are living in Kenya, used to the internet and looking for a way to make money online, then you should know that it is quite realistic as there are many ways to achieve this.
Kenya is a great nation in East Africa and has a lot of educated and internet savvy people. Kenya is among the top ten internet users in Africa with over 4 million users and so having an online business that generates money for you even when you are asleep is actually feasible.
How do you make money online in Kenya?Well you have to understand what making money online really means. What does it mean to make money online? To make money online means to be able to make money from the internet, at least in this our context. It means to be apply your knowledge of how the web works to your financial benefit. If someone can have something like an office on the internet, then it will be online all the time, 24hrs a day and everyday in a year. This ability to have a virtual office open all the time is what makes online income a good source or income.
There are several ways to make money online in Kenya and it doesn't matter where you live and they include but not limited to the following:
- Blogging
- Online Forums
- Web designing
- Web hosting
- Domain registration services
- Writing (eg on Hubpages, Helim, Articlebase etc)
- Photography website
- Online Forex trading (Highly profitable + Highly risky)
- Q & A website
- Selling own digital products
- Selling own ebooks
- Classified Ads
- Online Professional Consulting
- Article writing
- Online advertising
- Website Moderators
- Online Surveys
and lots more
Whichever of them you choose will depend on your level of skill and how you are able to harness this ability to making your first US Dollar or Kenyan Shilling.
What making money online requires:
In order to be able to make money online, there are 3 basic things that you will require and these are:
- An online Presence
- A product or service (Something you can offer)
- A payment processor (How you get paid)
For instance, if you want to make money online by writing articles for websites, you will need to get an account(your online presence), include your ads(payment links) and publish your writing(your service) and keep repeating this cycle in order to keep the money rolling into you account.
If you are into selling tangible or digital items on your website, you will also need to have the item readily available and need a means of getting paid (Paypal or Mpesa).
Making money online in Kenya may be seen as unrealistic by some Kenyans but the truth is that if you really want to start making it, you need to first be convinced that you can.
To make money online in Kenya, you need to believe that you can
The coming of PaypalPaypal is now in Kenya and with more options for users. You can now send and also receive payments online in Kenya using Paypal and this opens to door to wider opportunities for you. You could connect more easily to Paypal's global users. You can sell to people and buy from people outside Kenya. You can open up your website for online business to even clients as far as Canada, the US, UK, Australia and even South Africa. This will give more opportunity for online merchants and even web content owners who are looking for more ways to monetize their websites. So Paypal can also be a useful tool in making money online in Kenya.
So don't just say that you can't make money online as there are more options now than before.

The best way to increase traffic is by increasing the number and frequency of your website content. Ultimately, you will get more web traffic when you have more useful content for users

How much can one make from Google adsense really in Kenya. I already have a blog but I have been making small income from it which is not even enough to pay for hosting. Could someone make as much as $2000 a month from it?

It is quite possible to get that amount of income from adsense alone but you will have to work hard to build your site overtime or get people to do it for you. Just target a popular niche and dominate it and you will see adsense keep on flowing continuous income to your account.

One problem I am facing is driving traffic to my blog. I have a blog that I have been running for close to 2 years although on a part time basis and I have made a lot of good posts but it doesn't seem to get noticed. How do I drive more traffic to my blog in order to make more money?
Another aspect I am looking at is how to sell ebooks on sites like Amazon. I would like to know more about that and how much commission Amazon would take for helping to publish and sell my own book
