Yahoo Mail is unarguably the best web based email service that is used in Nigeria and the website ranks among the top three most visited websites. With the highest number of internet users in Africa for a country, Nigeria and Yahoo do sure make a perfect combination.
While majority of internet users in Africa would not be so willing to pay for premium email accounts yet, Yahoo's free email service seems to have found a home here and the number of accounts keeps increasing.
Yahoo is an internet company that was founded in America but has become popular worldwide due to its numerous services such as search, news, small business but most importantly due to its free email service which is helping a lot of internet newbies at least have a virtual address on the web.
Having an email address is mostly the first thing an internet user gets as it offers one a sense of belonging and the ability to communicate with the rest of the world as long as there is internet service. An email address has taken over the traditional mailbox system by allowing people to do the same thing but much better, quicker and cheaper than traditional snail mails do. No need to cut down trees for paper or envelopes, no need to wait for a response by slow mail but replies and new mails are sent swifter and easily all with the touch of a button. For more than 99% of internet users in Africa, Nigeria particularly, Yahoo mail has offered people their first experience with the email.
Yahoo mail continues to be be free and may never cease to be so since internet companies have a much better way of making money from people using online advertising and marketing for other products.
When is comes to controlling email spam, Yahoo mail does a lot of work and much better than other email providers in detecting and preventing spam from getting to your inbox. One you have a Yahoo email account, all you need to do is to turn on spam and all useless or suspicious mail will be sent to your Spam folder which will ultimately get deleted after a time period. You could also check your spam box in case you feel you could be missing an important mail and move it back to your inbox just by clicking Not spam. Yahoo mail understands a lot o your actions and stores them as your preferences.
Yahoo mail has evolved from what it used to be in the past as your inbox now has more size, you could have email alerts on your phone, check your mail with a mobile phone, read news and buzz withing your inbox, get entertainment by watching movies, listen to music and even shop online. With a Yahoo email account, you get easy access to a lot of other Yahoo's free and premium service without having to fill in your personal details again except for maybe you billing details. A Yahoo email address is unique and once you have signed up with one, it becomes yours and no one else's.
A Yahoo mail account allows you to also have access to Yahoo's famous internet chat messenger. Yahoo's chat messenger allows you to send messages and files to your friends at a much faster rate that even email. As long as your friends are online, you could chat with them and get immediate feedback using messenger.
There are a lot of things you could do with your Yahoo mail account and it all started with a simple email account.
