Using MTN share n sell with USSD or SMS

As you might know already, MTN share n sell is a service by MTN Nigeria that allows subscribers to share or sell airtime credit to another person, within the network.
The rules for using MTN share n sell are simple:
- You may only send whole figures and not kobos
- You can send a minimum of N50 and a maximum of N6000 per transfer and N50,000 per day
- You can only transfer airtime credit within the MTN network.

So in a way, it is like mobile money as it allows you to send credit from one person to another for free all on the number 777.

How to use MTN share n sell
You can do this in any of the following ways;
- 1. SMS
- 2. USSD

1. Using SMS
This allows you to send a message to 777 in the format:
Transfer 080xxxxxxxx Amount (e.g. Transfer 0803xxxxxxx 2000 0000) to 777. That will send 2000 credit to 0803xxxxxxx

To start using MTN share n sell with sms, you should first change your pin by sending the following text to 777:
default_PIN New_PIN New_PIN e.g 0000 1234 1234

2. Using USSD
This allows you to dial a code and then be able to use the service. It comes in the format:
*600*RECIPIENT_NUMBER*AMOUNT*PIN# (e.g. *600*0803xxxxxxx*500*PIN#)

To start using MTN share n sell with USSD, you should first change your pin by dialing:

*601*default PIN*New PIN*New PIN# Send/Ok e.g. *601*0000*1234*1234# Send/Ok

When the default PIN has been changed to you new PIN, you will receive a message informing you that your PIN was changed successfully

You can then transfer credit to the person by dialling the code: *600*RECIPIENT_NUMBER*AMOUNT*PIN# e.g *600*0803xxxxxxx*500*PIN#

Note: The default pin is 0000 and your new pin will now be 1234 or any other numbers you wish to use. If you use the wrong pin 5 times, you will be barred from using the service until you contact customer service who will be able to help you reset it to 0000.

Once you change your pin, you will receive a welcome sms from MTN Share n sell and this indicates that you are active for the service
