How to make money blogging in Nigeria - Part II

If you already know about blogging, by now you would know that it can be an effective tool in making money online. Blogging is like a virtual real estate and if it's on your own domain name and web host, there is hardly any likelihood of you loosing that investment in the short term. It's one thing to have a blog that brings in traffic, making you some money but you also need to protect your blog's income. How do you do that? Why do you have to do that?
In my previous post on this topic, I mentioned that offering online advertisers like Google and Adbrite a space on your blog could be a cool way to make money from your site but in the long run, you need to protect that source of income - You need to insure you virtual real estate.

How to insure the income from your blog
Well here are several tips that can help you to do that:

- Keep blogging: Adding more content to your blog in the face of increasing competitors and new entrants can be a way to consolidate your blog income. Maybe you don't have to blog all the time as you once did in a sort of blog marathon when you were still bubbly with blogging. As a professional blogger, you now only need to just blog at certain times while you may also give opportunity for guest bloggers to add content to your site

- Diversify your income: You may not necessarily have to keep relying on ppc and cpm ads to be a source of income for your blog. Truth is, if you want to be in the game for long, you need to start thinking outside the boc and if possible be a key player in your blogging field. There is always a new way to make money with your blog. You could write a real book. You could start online consulting. You could do paid reviews. You could even delve into your own direct ad sales.

- Go Tech: Go a bit into technology blogging and focus on topic about phones, gadgets and science. They bring in more money than the ordinary rants on your blog.

- Use social networking: Sites like twitter and facebook can help bring more traffic and ranking for your blog as they provide links ans add more user interaction for your blog. With twitter, you only need to link it up with your blog's feed or feedburner and with facebook, same thing too and you only have to create a fan page for your blog.

- Get your own domain: You just have to quit sites like blogspot and wordpress and get your own paid blog. I have heard stories of bloggers who lost many years of hard word just because they got terminated by a blogging platform. So if you are not on your own domain name yet, perhaps you are not yet making enough money yet or your are just not blogging to make money

- Develop other blogs: You don't have to stick to one blog. Try out other areas and other niches like entertainment and news or even education. I used to focus on only business and make money blogs but the truth is that make money blogs don't really make much money than when compared to entertainment or academic blogs. The real money lies where people really are in need of something that will satisfy their immediate need. So you should try out other options and niches rather than what you are already blogging about.
