I guess one of the reasons why a lot of Adsense publishers outside the USA would prefer being paid by Western Union is because it is so quick. Western union payments allows users to send and receive money from across the world in minutes and it saves time as well as bank charges for clearing foreign cheques. Think of it, to receive Western union payments in Nigeria, it would cost about a flat fee of $50 for the sender and the receive would just collect the money in foreign currency as soon as he can presennt valid identification. However, when it comes to receiving, depositing and clearing cheques from Adsense payments, it takes about 21 days, costs for bank charges varies and at times much higher than Western union fees. At the end, the hardworking Adsense publisher spends more time and money just to get his monthly cheque. Now Google understands this and actually offers options for publishers to get paid but the thing is that these options varies from country to country as most people would prefer to use the Western union option rather than the check.
Now the latest news is that Google adsense has increased the number of countries in that Western union option list and it includes:
- Cameroon
- Senegal
- Libya
- Mauritius
- Yemen
- Georgia
- Oman
- Qatar
- Bahrain
- Kuwait
- Jordan
- Nicaragua
- Venezuela
