How to make money from Internet Marketing in Nigeria

Internet Marketing, what is it really? It has to do with marketing as we know but on a different platform known as the internet. Marketing is about promoting the sales of a item such as product or service. In internet marketing, it is basically the same but in this case, it has to do with promoting the sales of such items in digital or electronic form.
Take an example of an mp3 song, you can try driving traffic to an online store that sells such downloads and encourage people to buy. When you do such a promotion, then you are said to be engaging in internet marketing.

Internet marketing is a growing online professional and one of the quick ways to make money online in Nigeria. There are many other ways to make money from the internet in Nigeria but for this purpose, we are going to focus on just internet marketing.

On a personal level, my first experience with internet marketing was when I joined the famous Google cash programme. This involved me signing up as an affiliate for an internet download store and the methdo I chose to bring in covmersions was through PPC advertising such as Google adwords. Now, I did bring in some sales and made a commission of about $30, I found out that I was already spending up to $90 on just Adwords so that didn't really work well for me.

Why I think Internet marketing with Google cash didn't work for me:
- I didn't know how to limite my budget with adwords
- I was using a programme that was not helpful to Nigerian residents.
- I didn't have a website
- I was new to Internet marketing

Anyway, i have since learnt from that experience and have found a better way to make more money from online marketing without really focusing on advertising and for me having a website with traffic driving articles really did the job.

If you are looking at internet marketing as a profession or business for the long term, one quick tip I would advice you is to have your own website related to your niche.

Since this topic really has to do with how to make money from internet marketing, I'm just going to give a quick run down what you can do to achieve this.

Steps to successful internet marketing in Nigeria
- Look for a digital product or service you can market
- Partner only with sites or merchants that offer direct payments to Nigeria such as cheque, bank wire and not Paypal.
- Sign up as an affiliate or reseller
- Get a website or free blog from blogger or wordpress
- Write a lot of articles and submit them to article directories and your website
- Include your affiliate link if you are an affiliate or drive traffic to your sales page if you are reselling
- Make use of online advertising but be reasonable with your costs

Internet marketing is the real engine behind most of the commercial activities on the internet. It helps to bring the attention of goods and services to the final consumers who are always looking to satisfy their need.

Internet marketing can help bring you direct income in form of commissions for referred conversions or even bring you indirect income from the actual sales of an item that you are marketing. The easiest way to start making money from internet marketing in Nigeria however is by driving sales and traffic to other people's items so as to earn a commission.

You don't really need your own website from day one if you want to start getting the dough as you can make use of existing platforms like online advertising, SEO, article submissions or blogging to do so. However in the long run, you may need a website, even if it is just to list your portfolio as a seasoned internet marketer.

There is much to be said about internet marketing and making money online in Nigeria but it really all have to do with utilizing the power of the internet to drive traffic. Driving traffic is key when it comes to internet marketing.
