Yes, some people or perhaps lazy bloggers are copying content from my site and they shouldn't be loving it. Easy comes easy goes so if you keep on copying, you may eventually get penalized.
I don't really feel bothered if people use ideas friom my site and rewrite their own posts but I do feel cheated when someone just copies content from my blog posts "word for word" and yet publish it with little or no change on their own site. What do you do when you notice that a site has been copying content from your site verbatim and without permission from you?
Let me set things straightYou may not copy and/or republish content on this website elsewhere. The content on this site and any other blogs I write are not for copying so I don't give anyone permission to copy and publish them on their site and anyone doing so, does so at his own risk as your domain and site may eventually receive the slaps from search engines like Google for plagiarism. I had earlier written about copycats after I experienced this similar situation before and you can find the post
hereAn original publisher is being shortchanged besides the hard workThe worst thing that can even happen to a blogger is if his original post is ranked lower in search engines than the copied post. It may continue like that for a while until smart search robots discover that they had been cheated and ban the site from site results. Copied content never pays and if you are one of those involved in such lazy acts, you are simply building your house upon sand.
I don't want to mention the websites that have been involved with these attacks on my site as it would only result to bad publicity for their site but they should desist from doing so as it is not the right way to keep a good reputation.
Well here are a couple of things you can do if you have the same problem:- Send an email to the webmaster. This doesn't normally work
- Report to search engines
- File a DMCA notice to sites like Google
- Report to Google if it is one of their services like blogger and Wordpress if it is a free wordpress account
- Just wait it out as search engines will eventually penalize the site
