How to cash your Google Adsense cheque/check in Nigeria

If you are Google Adsense publisher in Nigeria, reaching the minimum $100 payment threshold can be exciting and what happens afterwards is an international cheque forwarded to you from Google Inc.
Google is an incorpated company in the USA and has branches across the world. One of the programs which they run that benefits web publishers for their site content is the Adsense program.
If you were in the USA or some other country, getting paid by Google can be much more faster as they can do so by direct deposit or cheques that can be cleared in a shorter time but in Nigeria, the only form of payment option available to Google Adsense publishers is an internatonal cheque which can only be cleared in a bank account that matches the cheque's currency. Nowadays, Google normally sends the cheque from somewhere in Ireland. It was initially sent from the USA.

Things you will need to do to cash your Google adsense check in Nigeria:
- A Google adsense cheque
- A domicilliary account that matches the check currency
- Deposit the cheque

Domicilliary accounts in Nigeria
A domicilliary account is simply a bank account that is held on our behalf in foreign currency. The local currency is the naira so a domicilliary account is normally in another currency such as euro or usd. If you are going to open a dom account for the sake of Google adsense, make sure that it matches the currency on your check. Normally in your Adsense account, you may opt to be paid in Euro or USD so whichever you choose, it should be the same type of currency you open for your dom account.
All Nigerian banks nowadays offer domicilliary accounts and some of them really charge more than others. I recommend you open a domicillary account with a bank like Diamond bank or Sterling bank.

Requirements for opening a domicilliary account with Diamond bank
Here are the main thins you will need when opening an account with Diamond bank for cashing your adsense checks:

- Two specimen signature cards duly signed
- Two passport photographs of each signatory to the account
- Evidence of identity of each signatory to the account (preferably International passport or drivers license)
- Individual account for the past six months.

You may also need to have an opening balance in dollars so you should go with some foreign currency and there would also be a place for you to fill so that they know your reason for opening that account with them. I think having something like $150 as opening balance will do.

How do you receive your cheque in Nigeria?
It really depends on how much you make from the adsense publishers. People making something like $100 to $400 a month from adsense can decide to use snail mail to get their checks sent to Nigeria but it can be really slow. If you are earning more than $500 or $1000, it would be safer and more convenient to make use of the express mailing service which Google adsense provides for about $20 and you can then track your cheque in DHL's tracking system here: http://track.dhl-usa.com.

How long does it take for Google adsense cheque to clear in a Nigerian bank?
This takes about 21 working days or three weeks. You can call at your bank to see the status of your cheque. We hope that in the near future, Google may also start paying Nigerian publishers by means of Western union which is literally money in minutes. They may be a $50 charge though for people receiving it but it is much better when you compare the dhl service costs and bank charges.

How do you pay in the Google adsense cheque
Just go to your bank and collect a deposit teller for cheques
- Fill in your domicilliary account number
- Write the amount in words and figures and tick the currency box eg $
- Fill in the cheque number and issuing bank details
- Give the teller and cheque(Torn out from your Adsense payment slip)
- Collect a copy of the teller for yourself
- Put in a copy of the teller in the control box
- Wait for the next 3 weeks for it to clear

You should also apply for online banking so that you can actually know when the money has been credited to your account else you can call the customer service and ask them why your cheque has been delayed after 3 weeks.

How to withdraw from your domicilliary account
There are several ways for you to withdraw from your domicilliary account after your Adsense check has cleared and you can do so by:
- An application letter and direct withdrawal
- Transfer to credit card (Visa or Mastercard)
- Transfer to your savings account and it requires currency conversion (Not recommended)
- Transfer to foreign account
- Other options available at your bank

Banks normally charge a fixed rate I think for making a direct withdrawal in cash from your domicilliary account. It may be as high as $20 and you should ask them so as to know their charges.

Conclusion
Now with a Google adsense account and a domicilliary bank account in Nigeria, you just have to work harder to ensure that you keep earning more money online for your publishing efforts.

PLEASE, I am not making use of google adsence in my site due to disapproval problem.
I am using chitika, infolinks and clicksor. They can pay you with check if your money reach $50 no service fee according to them. Please do you know how i can cash with them in Nigeria? Clicksor can pay with wire transfer but i dont know any information about wire transfer such as swift code of the bank etc.

To get your bank wire transfer details, just visit your bank and make an enquiry. I think it varies from bank to bank and branch to branch

Google ads still remains the best for publishers and advertiser. I have received several checks from Google
