The Nokia N96 is a smart phone by Nokia and it is capable of doing a lot of things such as video calling, fast 3g mobile browsing and lots more. There is also a Chinese version of the Nokia N96 and it doesn't really have all the functions of the original Nokia phone so I wouldn't exactly call it a Nokia phone. One problem I found with the phone is that you can't receive gprs phone settings automatically from your network and so you will have to configure it manually.
Here is a step by step approach to setting up gprs settings on your Chinese version of the Nokia N96:
- Go to the Main Menu and open Services
- Select Data account and GPRS
- Edit one of the GPRS settings there to suit your home network's settings for example:
This if for MTN Nigeria
Account name: MTN GPRS
APN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net
username = web
password = web
Authentication = Normal
- Save those manual settings
- Go back to services and select Wap
- Under Wap, go to settings and click on Edit Profile
- Select your network and activate it
Now you can browse the mobile web with you China Nokia(Chinko) N86 phone
