The much buzzed about laptop designed for sunny climates like Africa is now in Nigeria and Samsung is behind it. This laptop is called the Samsung NC215S Notebook

It is a good product for the Nigerian market
Are you used to using laptops or desktops and get fed up with irregular power supply knowing that your battery or ups service doesn't last more than 1 or 2 hrs or power outage? Well, here comes the Solar laptop and it is brought to us by Samsung. I still wonder thought why Samsung failed to launch product in Nigeria or select cities across Africa but rather chose to launch it in the USA - a country which resides mostly in the northern hemisphere. Actually the Africa and Nigeria should be home toe the solar laptop because we have over 6 months of sunlight every year. So although it is a a good product for the Nigerian market, it is still relatively scarce and the price may still be a bit on the high side.

It is really a green laptop
What do you say about a laptop that generates twice as much power as it consumes
One thing I like about this new notebook is that is really saves energy and can work full time using energy from the sun. It has a battery that can work for over 14 hrs and I know that most people don't spend up to that amount of time on a laptop. In a country where the economy is still growing and there are battling problems with the power supply, going solar in your ICT investment would be a smart decision.

No Nepa? No Wahala
All you really need to keep using your computer is the sun and the solar laptop. No need to plug it into any power socket as long as it is fully charged or charging in the sun. You could just power it off if you want and place it by the window or corner where the sun gets to your room or you could use it outdoors too. So whether you are using it or not, you can still get it recharged over and over again without the need for electrical supply from Nepa or the PHCN.

Charging capacity
It is said that is charges twice as much as the sunlight it receives and this simply means that for every hour you put it in the sun, you can use it for 2 times that without the sun. So for about 14 hrs of usage, you could charge it for 7 hrs. Apart from re-charging itself using its solar cells, Samsung's solar laptop which is now available in Nigerian stores can also

How much does the Solar laptop cost in Nigeria?

Perhaps you should try charging it for 7 hrs first before switching it on or using it. If it still doesn't work well, it could be a battery problem
