As Nigeria enters the mobile money era, telecom companies like MTN Nigeria is one of the major players. The great thing about Mobile money is that you can carry your bank along with you without actually carrying any physical money as long as you have a mobile phone. Now what do you call that? It's like having liquid cash without actually having physical cash. You can pay for bills, buy airtime, withdraw money and do many other things you do with physican cash as long as you have a network connected mobile phone.
It's a wallet! No. It's a phone! It's another card product! No, it just a mobile service! Well, actually, it's just mobile money.
Here's a brief review of MTN's mobile money.
So what is Mobile Money?Mobile money is simply money on a mobile phone which you can move around just in the same way you move around with your mobile phone. It is now available on the MTN network to both prepaid and post paid subscribers.
How does it work?The sender loads money into his mobile account and from there he can always send money to another person with his virtual funds or from his mobile wallet by simply dialing some codes on his phone. The receiver receives the money on his phone and can then use if for whatever he likes such as making purchases, withdrawing or just banking.

Update: MTN Mobile money is now in partnership with GTBank. It was formerly with Stanbic-IBTC and you can choose which account you want e.g. Unbanked, Semi-banked or fully banked
