MTN Nigeria offers to all sim card holders in Nigeria the ability to browse the web. As long as you have an active MTN sin card connected to a capable device, you can browse the internet.
The internet browsing service by default, comes on a Pay as You Go basis meaning that you are charged per data based on how much data you actually use. There are no subscription codes attached to it, no long term plans and no strings attached.

How to get Pay as you go browsing service from MTN
- Ensure that your sim is active. e.g registered
- Ensure that it has sufficient airtime balance.
- Ensure that you have configured your device for internet browsing

How much does it cost?
Well going to the mtn homepage is actually free on your mobile i.e. wap.mtnonline.com or loaded.mtnonline.com but going to other websites will be charged based on the size of the files you downloaded.

According to MTNONLINE.COM, the flat browsing rate is set at 5k/kb.

This means that if you download 1 kilobyte of data, you would be charged N0.05k and that means for N100, you get to use up to 1mb.

Now if your browsing is going to be over 1mb a day, I would advise you to just simply subscribe to their N100 day plan which would give you up to 10mb data limit.

Why I prefer MTN Pay as you go browsing
Well there are a couple of reasons why I prefer using this sort of browsing plan rather than going for a contract service.
- I get to use my airtime credit for other things rather than fixing it into mobile browsing service that is not guaranteed
- At times, internet connectivity is poor even when using a prepaid browsing plan and this could make me lose my funds as MTN doesn't offer any refunds for bad service
- I owe MTN nothing and they owe me nothing as I only get to use my credit when service is good.

Tips to reduce your pay as you go browsing costs
- Use Opera mini
- Browse with your mobile phone rather than desktop
- Disable images with Opera
- Avoid heavy sites like Youtube
- Use Google search for mobile sites and avoid non mobilized websites
