Some people started their free blogs with blogspot.com perhaps because it was a free and easy way to start blogging but as your blog grows, it would only be wise to move to your own .com blog.

As a blog grows, it's ability to generate revenue also increases as there are a lot of online advertisers that would be willing to invest in it. So why not give your blog that professional look and url that reputable blogs are expected to have?

How do you change or move from a blog.blogspot.com to yourown.com?
That's a good question. It is quite easy to do so and there are two ways to do it:
- Getting your own domain name and still using blogger hosting
- Getting your own domain name and web hosting (Needs migration to wordpress or other blogging platform)

Getting a custom domain name for your blogspot sub domain
If you intend to still use blogger to run your blog, you may not need to get hosting but only get a new domain name for your blog.

How do you do this?

You can do this by either buying a domain from blogger or getting a domain from a different domain registrar.

Buying a domain name from blogger
You just need to log into your blogger account and purchase a custom domain using them. This makes the work faster as blogger will update your dns and blogger settings to ensure your blog keeps working effectively.

Buying a domain name from a different seller
You can buy from Godaddy, Yahoo, netfirms or others.
- After buying the domain, log into control panel for the domain
- Change the CName settings
- Under CName settings, enter www under sub domain and ghs.google.com under CName
- Change A records to point to the 4 different Google ips which are 216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21
- Wait for about 1 hr for your DNS to update
- Then log in to blogger account
- Go to settings > Publishing
- Edit the blog address to your new domain url
- Go to advanced settings
- Under blog address, enter your new domain url
- Save
- Just wait for your blog to connect with your new domain.

Why you should move to your own custom domain blog
- It gives you more authority
- It makes it easy for visitors to return to your blog without having to Google for it
- It makes your blog look professional
- You get more access to online advertisers
- Page rank and traffic increases
- It is cheap. Domains are about $10
