You don't always have to use your phone's gprs connection when connecting to the internet and most especially so when you also have access to a Wifi internet connection
The Nokia e52 is one of such mobile devices that allow you to connect to the internet through a wifi connection and when you do so, you'll not have to pay for your network's data service since you've switched to wifi and this in most cases is even faster.
How to set up your phone to detect wifi networks- Go to Menu > Control panel > Connections
- Click on Wireless LAN
- Under show WLAN availability, select yes
- Under scan for networks, select every minute
- Under Internet connectivity, select run automatically.
Now your phone will be able to detect wireless connections on the go
Configure your phone browserYou should also configure some settings on your phone browser to allow you to choose which connection to use when browsing.
- Go to Browse > Settings
- Under General, select Access point
- Choose Always ask. So it will ask you when you want to connect based on availability.
Try to connectWhen next you open the mobile browser, it will ask you which connection to use. You can either search for WLAN or use your default mobile connection.
It is actually much faster and saves cost when using a public WLAN connection than using your phone's gprs connection
