When you first power up your Kindle Fire HD, one of the things it would do first is to scan for Wireless networks.

Once it discovers a wireless network, it would seek to connect and you can try connecting it easily if it is open without a key. If it is secured, you would need a secure key to connect.

You can always skip that connection for later and browse through local files and applications on your Kindle Fire.

To connect to a Wireless network for internet browsing later on, you should go to the drop down menu and click on Wireless and the wireless properties would be displayed.

For an unsecured Wireless network, you can easily connect without a password

For a secured Wireless network, you should just enter the Wireless network's details such as SSIN security type, save and then connect.

To disable Wireless connections and scanning for a Kindle, you can always switch the Wifi detection off.

Once connected, you will no longer have to set it up again. You can always browse the web
