Assuming you lose the contacts on your mobile, you can always retrieve them back if you are on the MTN network since they offer a back up service. This service or retrieving your lost contacts would only be available to you if you've done an initial backup.

Things you will need:
========================
- Mobile internet connection
- Synchronization settings
- At least N50 Airtime credit

How to do it
===============
If it is a new phone, you would need to restore the sync settings that allow your phone to connect to the online back up service in order to download your contacts.

There are two ways to set up the sync settings on your phone:
========================
- Manual configuration (If you know the settings)
- OTA configuration

Configuring sync settings manually
==================================
By using the manual configuration, you just need to go to your phone's sync settings and set up the ff details:

Sync profile: MTN Sync or anything else
Server version 1.2
Contact database ./Address
C alendar database: ./EventTask
Note database: ./Note
Data bearer: Internet
Host address: http://mtnonline.syncallynis.gemalto.com/gemaltosync/s
Username: 234yournumber
password: ******
network connection: Use active gprs or other available connection
port: 80
allow sync requests: ask first

Configuring sync settings using OTA
====================================
If you don't know how to manually configure the synchronization settings on your phone, you can always go to the MTN backup portal to send the settings to your phone by pushing it.

Log into your account, go to devices and choose to send settings to phone or just click on I've got a new phone.

Updating your phone
====================
Once you've got the manual or OTA sync settings on your phone, you can always update your phone easily by choosing to synchronize from your phone or from the back up portal.

Choose to sync from either your phone or online backup account and your phone would be updated. You just need the correct sync settings and a reliable internet connection to do this.
