Receiving Google Adsense cheques in Nigeria via DHL

Google is contributing a lot to Nigerian website owners who have good content on their websites. They do this by allowing them participate in the rewarding program called Google adsense.

To start earning some income from Google adsense, all a Nigerian website owner need to to is sign up with a website that already has user friendly traffic and hope to get approval from Google. After being approved, he would receive a unique adsense code that would be used on his website or network of sites and start earning income from the traffic he drives to Google's advertising customers.

When it comes to the issue of payment for credits earned, Google normally pays publishers in Nigeria who have earned at least 70 Euros($100) towards the end of the month by issuing a cheque either by snail mail or a faster courier service like DHL and this arrives Lagos by the first week of the following month after payment has been issued.

The cheque issued by Google is normally issued by Google in Ireland and it is a foreign cheque that can be paid into a Nigeria domiciliary bank account. Being a foreign cheque, it takes some time to clear, at least 21 days after which the publisher's account in Nigeria would be credited with a discounted value in foreign currency. In most cases, the bank normally credits the publisher's bank account only after deducting their commission which varies from bank to bank. Some banks charge as high as $100 while some may charge only $20 or a percentage of the amount being cleared.

The DHL shipment
Once Google Ireland has issued the check, the publisher sees the payment issued notification in his account under payments. The issue normally carries a payment number and after some days also a DHL tracking number. The publisher would be able to track the payment package normally before it arrives in Nigeria. Cheques sent by DHL normally arrive before the 5th of new month following the month it was issued.

So, if for instance, Google issued the payment by the 25th of the qualifying month, you'd get it by the 5th of next month.

What happens if you don't receive Google adsense cheque on time?
You can always request for a re-issue from Google at no additional cost and Google would add your payment to the next payment value. If you do finally receive the cancelled cheque later, don't bother cashing it else your bank may just charge you for a cancelled cheque.

How publishers reduce their DHL shipment costs for adsense payments They do this for by consolidating their payment or package so that when it builds up, it would be sent as a single shipment at the same fee. This is normally common among low income So if for example you've earned $500 in a month, you can decide to use a payment hold to your account so that you receive payments maybe quarterly when it reaches about $1500. You can set a payment hold anytime and remove it before the 15th of the month you wish to receive a payment.

Tracking Adsense parcel via DHL
When the publisher has been notified of an adsense payment, he is able to track the shipment via DHL's online tracking tools. You can get the online tracking tools by going to http://www.dhl-usa.com/en/express/tracking.html.
Enter the tracking number that begins with DHL and submit. You will be able to track your parcel from the destination point till it arrives Nigeria. It shouldn't take more than 5 days. I have included a photo of how I tracked an adsense payment using the DHL tracking number.

Cashing an Adsense cheque in Nigeria
As I earlier said, it is a foreign cheque issued by Google Ireland to be cleared by a bank in Ireland. What you do is pay it into a foreign currency bank accountn that matches the currency on the cheque and wait for it to clear after 21 days. It should be an account that also matches the name of the cheque. Once it has cleared, the bank in Nigeria would then credit your account with the funds which you can then withdraw in cash.
