Well about 0.7 mb per 1 minute video or around N10 per min if using a prepaid data plan.
It depends on your internet service really and whether you are subscribed to a data or time based plan. So our cost can be expressed in time used or data consumed.
When it comes to watching videos online in Nigeria, one top website we are used to already is YouTube. It is one of the most visited websites in the world and it features are collection of videos created by users worldwide. There are an almost unlimited number of videos on YouTube. In fact, YouTube has more videos and channels than any media network in the world!
Do you watch YouTube videos in Nigeria? How much does it cost you to watch?
If it was based on data used and if using MTN'S 100 naira for 10MB serivce as an example
=========
Based on an experiment I once did on watching YouTube videos on my mobile phone, it cost about 2mb for a 3 minute video and that means it cost about 0.7 mb for a 1 minute video. It would cost more if using a Pay as you go data service rather than a prepaid data plan.
If using a time based internet service
======================
If I were using a time based internet service, it would not cost any extra amount other than the time used which I've already prepaid for. I think when it comes to anlayzing the cost for watching a YouTube video in Nigeria, due to low quality internet service, it is best to base your costs on data downloaded rather than time used.
Saving costs on watching YouTube videos
============================
However when it comes to saving costs when watching YouTube videos in Nigeria, it is best to subscribe to a time based internet service rather than a data based one since a time based on gives you unlimited data downloads.
