The MTN Nigeria Hynet service comes with a CPE modem that is powered by a 12V 2A output A/C adaptor. Well I had been using the system for a while until my a/c adaptor just stopped working. It seemed to have been affected by overheating and so some fuses were already blown.
Well I did the logical thing by going to the MTN outlet or friendship center to get a replacement for the a/c adaptor only to find out that they don't have the replacement parts. So where exactly do they expect customers to get replacement parts for my Hynet modem assuming some parts get worn out tomorrow? Do I have to buy a complete package just because of a worn our a/c/ adaptor which they should have had?
Guess what? I just copied the specifications and sought to get a new a/c adaptor from a local electronic shop. Unfortunately, I was not able to see the exact one that outputs 12v at 2A but got the one designed for DSTV decoders that gave 12V at 1.5A. This worked well for my Hynet CPE modem and at a price of N1,000.
I do hope that MTN centers should start having spare parts to sell to their clients especially for products they are already selling.
