I've been using Google Chrome on my Kindle Fire HD and I just wanted to use this post in sharing how I was able to install and start using it on my device.

Kindle Fire is an android-like device which means that browser apps like Chrome for Android would be able to work on it. The problem however is that Chrome is not available on the Amazon appstore which is the default safe website for installing apk files to Kindle. This means that for now, the only way to get Chrome for Android on your Kindle Fire would have to be by installing it from a third party website

There is also a free version of Google Chrome for Android on the Google play website but that website also does not allow Kindle devices to access it. The best way then would have to be by getting it from a free apk file sharing website or from any of your peers who already have the apk file installed.

Here is how I was able to get the Chrome apk file on my Kindle.

What we are looking for? Chrome for Android V.18.0.10 or higher.

I got it for free from the website: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485473. You could also get it from any of your friends or even from safe file sharing websites.

Once you've downloaded the Chrome apk file, then you just have to copy and install it on Kindle Fire HD.

How to copy and install chrome apk to Kindle Fire HD
==============
- Copy the apk file to Kindle internal storage folder
- Allow installation of third parties by changing your setting in Kindle. i.e. Settings > More > Devices > Allow third party installation
- Open the apk file with Kindle ES file explorer. You can get this free from apps.opera.com
- Allow the installation to take place
- Open the Chrome app from your apps and start browsing

It is that easy.

Chrome works a bit like the Silk browser which is the default browser in Amazon's kindle fire HD. However, you could do a lot more with chrome than with Silk and I'm just loving it.
