If you are an internet publisher and using Chitika as one of your income generating networks, it can be hard getting paid in Nigeria.
I've been a publisher with Chitika for some time in the past and I think I might just give them a try again after dropping them for sometime. It worked well for me and for sites I have that receive a considerable amount of US traffic.
It's not that I don't earn good income from the network but the problem mostly comes with getting paid since they offer payments mostly by Paypal. They also offer the foreign cheque option like Google adsense does but it doesn't get sent with DHL and there's no way of tracking it. As at the last payment Chitika claimed to have sent to my address which they also claimed to have sent. The total payments Chitika claimed to have made on my account amounted to about $460 but I've not received them yet and may probably never will.
Chitika claims to have sent 3 cheque payment to my address supposedly via snail mail and till date I've not received it. That probably is one of the reasons why I dumped Chitika for quite some time and stayed with Google adsense which for now is best for publishers in Nigeria.
If I do decide to go back to Chitika, I may have to switch to the Paypal option which is faster or use the cheque option if they start using DHL like Google does. I didn't use Paypal option in the past for Chitka since I didn't have an account. Now I do have a verified Paypal account and may start using Chitika again to monetize that US traffic.
Receiving payments from ad networks like Chitika via Paypal for me is risky that's why I've not really been interested in choosing Paypal and have rather stuck with the cheque payment option. But with their claim that my cheque has already being sent and cleared by someone in Nigeria means that the mailing system is not safe too but worse than Paypal. At least I would have maybe bought a laptop with the payment I worked hard for rather than allow some impersonator steal it from my Nigerian mail system. I guess Paypal payments would be safer for Nigerian publishers than snail mail cheques from Chitika.
Being a Chitika publisher for now doesn't seem too attractive as there are other better options like Addynamo and Bidvertiser who have already paid me by Visa card and Western union respectively.
If you do choose to start making money with Chitika, it is probably best to get a Paypal account because the cheque by mail is very slow and may get stolen in the process.
