How to stop auto-renew on MTN mobile internet data plan

If you've subscribed to MTN's data plan, chances are that the plan you are on will keep renewing automatically after the expiration date.

All you need to do to stop the auto-renew feature and be unsubscribed from their data plan is by texting "RESET to 131

I recently subscribed to their data plan and found out that their new plan comes with auto-renew which means that it would keep renewing to your plan as long as you have some credit in your account even without your prompting. I only intended going on one plan but it keep renewing even without my consent.

For ordinary users, the default plan is being on Pay as you go which means you get billed as much as 5kobo per kb of data that you downloaded which is high. So a cool way which users have been able to get a good discount on mobile internet services is by going for prepaid data plans.

For a new user who wants to subscribe to the data plan, he would need to subscribe by first sending the required sms code to 131 which is the official destination for getting such internet services on your mobile.

However, once you are subscribed, you may soon ignore the fact that you also have to formally unsubscribe else the data plan will keep being renewed.

So to unsubscribe from their new data plan, just text RESET to 131 and you'll reverse to the pay as you use service.
