There are different kinds of blogs in Nigeria. While some of them are in niches that are friendly to guys, there are also some that are more friendly to girls or females.
As a Nigerian guy, I don't really fancy visiting female blogs or follow them but at times I just visit them from search engines when there is a need to or just to understand why people actually visit their blogs.
While most Nigerian guys tend to read blogs that relate to news, politics, technology and sports, most Nigerian ladies on the other hand tend to love reading blogs related to fashion, entertainment, movies, weddings, food and cooking and so on.
Initially, I didn't really understand why lots of people visit sites like Linda Ikeji or BellaNaija but lately I got to know it's because they love writing about what Nigerian women love to read. Actually, I don't think guys like reading about weddings, fashion or gossip but there seems to be a strong appeal for it from the ladies.
Here is a list of some top female friendly blogs in Nigeria that I've seen:
1.
BellaNaija: Located at Bellanaija.com, this is a top entertainment blog that has a lot of female followership since they write about Fashion, Entertainmnet, movies and relationship. BellaNaija is run by a group of ladies led by Uche Eze. I still remember when Bellanaija used to be on blogspot domain but they moved up to their own custom domain at Bellanaija.com. The blog is among the most visited websites in Nigeria.
2.
Linda Ikeji: You may call her a one woman journalist, but Linda Ikeji has created a brand with her name. Hers is a gossip and entertainment blog run mostly by her. She's revealed a lot of things on her blog, some of which has endeared many fans to her. She doesn't blog that much but her short blog posts or would I say tweets at times get a lot of comments. They say women love gossip and I guess that's why Linda has a lot of female followers. Linda runs her blog on a blogspot sub-domain at lindaikeji.blogspot.com. Linda's strength lies in her fans who leave a lot of comments. Actually, even though I would refer to her as a micro-blogger, she has also encouraged a lot of other ladies to enter the blogging field.
3.
Ladun Liadi: A strong contender in Nigeria's female blogging industry. She has a blog located at ladunliadi.blogspot.com and she blogs about News, relationships, fashion and entertainment. She has a growing number of blog readers who are mostly Nigerian.
4.
Stella Dimokokorkus:
Stella has a pretty pinkish content filled blog located at stelladimokokorkus.com. It's a blogger hosted blog that runs with a custom domain name. What I love about her blog is her consistency at writing reports and she blogs about a variety of topics relating to entertainment, news, life and so on.
5.
Miss Petite Nigeria: The blog is run by pretty Emeh Achanga and she blogs about fashion, entertainment and news. From the name, I would immediately think it's a blog run by a small sized lady but I don't know since I've not met or seen her. But anyway, she really has a lot to say and from here writings, she is well educated.
6.
Laila's blog: Laila is a celebrity news blogger who has published a lot of stuff on her blog which people would want to read. Her blog is among the top ten female blogs in Nigeria and its worth visiting.
7.
Sugabelly: What I love about Sugabelly is her artistic skills. She does know how to draw and I identify with this since I drew comics when I was in primary school. She calls herself a blogger and illustrator. I don't really follow her blog that much but I do love the art I see when I get there. She has an impressive wordpress blog and also a YouTube channel. Her style of writing is from her personal angle and writes a bit like a Nigerian who travels abroad. Her blog is located at Sugabellyrocks.com
8.
LushStrands: One of the things that led me to her blog is because of the rate at which Nigerian women were buying imported human hair. It seemed so pitiable and I Googled on whether Nigerian hair can actually grow long and straight naturally. If you are a Nigerian lady and want to know how to grow your hair to waist length without the need for abracadabra human hair, well tells us a story of how she did hers. So when it comes to learning about how to take care of your hair, you can visit her website located at Lushstrands.blogspot.com
9.
That 1960 chick:
Located at that1960chick.com is a blog that publishes a lot of content related to fashion, beauty, celebrities, music and news. The blog sure does have a lot of growing content that would remain relevant for the long term.
10.
Ngozika Nwiro: What basically led me to her blog was her criticism on Linda Ikeji which sort of seemed to be a cat fight. You know guys like being around when women fight but anyways, It's just rants as they call it. What I love about her blog is that she seems well learned and has a good mastery of English and her blog posts tend to be much longer than Linda Ikeji's post. Ngozika blogs about Fashion, Entertainment and all those other things women love to read about.
If you know of any other serious female Nigerian blog which has over 1000 pages of content on Google, then feel free to add them in your comments.
