I had added some items on my Amazon wish list in the past and one of those items was a 50000mAh Power bank charger made by AllPowers. As at the last time I checked the price was $36.99 and I still had to pay for international shipping costs to Nigeria assuming I later decide to buy it and this would cost me another $40 or so. which could increase my costs to about $80.
When it comes to buying things on Amazon and getting it shipped to Nigeria, it is quite possible and you can do it even though Amazon US for now doesn't offer direct shipping to Nigeria. As long as you have to money to shop online on sites like Amazon and pay a US company for forward it to you in Nigeria, then you are ok.
You might be wondering why I was interested in buying things like a power bank charger. Well for those who don't know, a power bank charger is basically a charger that stores its own form of electricity inside it's internal battery such that it would be able to charge things like your mobile phone even when it is not connected to electricity. It is like using a battery to charge another battery even when there is no power supply from NEPA.
The reason why I wanted to buy it was because I had already gotten a Foldable solar charge from Amazon and even though I already had a smaller power bank, I needed something bigger that could charge my phone even up to 5 days or more and not just the one or 2 charges which I get from my currency power bank charger. I also felt that my Solar charge was being under utilized and since it had two external USB ports, just needed to add an extra power bank to it so that it would charge it up without having to use power from the prepaid electricity meter I'm using. You know when you start using a Pay as you go electricity meter, you get so conscious of your electricity usage and would want to save your credit as we do when using you GSM phones since you don't pay for what you don't use.
So, I had intially wanted to buy the Allpowers 50000mAh Power bank charger from Amazon but I've also found a new site where I'm getting used to shopping nowadays and it's a China based websites called Aliexpress.com. Aliexpress sells a lot of items that they also offer direct shipping for, to Nigeria. I tried checking for the same product on Aliexpress dince I had noticed that sellers on Amazon at times sell the same things that are made in China. You'd be surprised at how lower prices can go when you check for AMazon-like products on Aliexpress. I checked out the 50000mAh Power bank charger and found out it was much cheaper and this also included the direct shipping cost to Nigeria. It only cost me a total of $18.40 and I chose the free shipping option which made it to be sent through Postal mail.
I made the order on the Aliexpress website on June 4 and it recently arrived my local NIPOST office and all I have to do is visit there and pick it up after presenting the tracking number and a copy of my National ID card.
When items have been shipped to your local NIPOST office in Nigeria from Aliexpress, the mail main will send you a slip which would contain the tracking number for the order you made and you can confirm this on your Aliexpress account to know which order has arrived. You will just have to visit the Postal office with the notification slip and also you id card and do the pickup.
Unlike my shopping experience with AMazon which are normally a bit more expensive but takes less time, It's much cheaper to shop on ALiexpress even though it may take up to a month for the item to get to you. You can however ship faster on Aliexpress but you would have to pay more since they would be using an international courier service like DHL.
I'd be able to use my 50000mAh Power bank charger with my Solar charger and this will help keep small devices like my mobile phone charged up without the need for NEPA or generator.
