Why you should buy and download Nigerian songs from Amazon

There are a growing number of Nigerian songs being listed for sale at Amazon MP3 store but most Nigerians seem to prefer downloading them for free or getting pirated copies in CD form. I won't really blame them given that some US online stores make it hard for Nigerians to buy things online and Amazon for one doesn't for now accept Nigerian issued credit/debit cards especially for their Digital store but they do for most of their physical items. I'm going to try to explain how you can still buy MP3 songs on Amazon even if you were living in Nigeria.

Although there are many other websites where you can download Nigerian songs in mp3 format for free, it's not normally the same if you were to get it from Amazon. Two reasons why I prefer buying some Nigerian MP3 songs on Amazon are Quality and Purity. MP3 songs sold on AMazon are normally in its purest form since it's normally sold by the producers or owners and not from peer exchange or pirates. The songs are also of a much better quality that what you'd get from free MP3 downloading sites.

Although it costs about $0.99(160) to buy a track from Amazon, a price which is about the same for buying a complete CD album from the Nigerian market, its not always of the same quality and purity with what you'd get from the AMazon MP3 store. Some of those CDs cold in Nigeria are produced from pirates and unless you are buying an original CD from the authorized distributors, you may end up getting a pirated copy. So, although buying MP3 songs on Amazon might at times be a bit more costly, it would at times make more sense to pay more just to get the right stuff.

Another benefit of buying MP3 songs on Amazon is that once you purchase the song, you'd own it for life and it will remain in your account and you can always download it anytime you want. It means that Amazon will save your purchases in your online Music library and you can always retrieve it anytime you want so they offer you a safe storage for your MP3 collection. Buying a CD in the local Nigerian market may be cool but CDs tend to depreciate especially the N150 CDs and it may end up scratching after a year of use and it becomes useless. With MP3 songs purchased on Amazon, you can download and even burn it to a CD if you want as many time as you want since you now own the mp3 file.

One recent song I've bought on the Amazon store was one by Frank Edwards titled "MMA MMA". Amazon lets you browse or search for the songs or artist you want and then you can listen to it briefly before buying it. Previewing the song allows you to know if it's actually the song you are looking for and if you are ok with the quality before you decide to buy and add it to your Music library.

How to buy MP3 songs from Amazon if you are in Nigeria

If you are in Nigeria and want to buy a Nigerian song or any other song from Amazon, all you need to do is to go to the Amazon MP3 store and locate the song you want and click to buy.

Add the song to your MP3 cart and when you are finished with shopping for songs, you can just click the "Proceed to Checkout" button. You should then click the "Place your order button".

You might get an error that says "We were unable to process your order with the current payment information. Please click 'Continue' to select a default payment method and 1-Click address". It may be as a result of your billing details and you should know that for now, Amazon only accepts US Credit cards and not Nigerian cards for their MP3 store. You could easily get a Prepaid Virtual Visa card and use for that.

Once you've succeeded in purchasing the song, you'd be able to download it to your computer or other connected device by logging into your account and going to your Music library.

Amazon MP3 store also allows buyers to settle their bills using their gift card balance and so you don't always have to use the money in your credit/card to pay for MP3 songs but you'd automatically be making use of your gift card balance. You still need to at least have a US based card on your account and VCCs can easily do that for you.
