I recently purchased free apps and a book from the Kindle appstore from Nigeria and I'm glad it now works even if one were using a Nigerian IP address and debit card.
In the past, it was not easy buying apps and Kindle books from the Amazon digital store since one was required to at least have a US billing address and IP but now the appstore has been opened to many countries across the world including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and many others in Africa.
To buy apps and books from Amazon's kindle store, all you really need is a Visa or Mastercard that works with Amazon even if it was issued from a Nigerian bank. Yes, I now use my Naira debit card on Amazon and it works pretty well.
How to do it
=============
- Ensure your bank has activated your Naira Visa/Mastercard for Amazon shopping
- Go to your Amazon account and add your card details
- Proceed to Amazon's appstore and choose apps or books you want to buy
- Go to the app or game you want to buy
- Read the product details
- Click on the button that says "Buy now with 1-click"
After purchasing it, the app will be added to your library and you'll be able to download it to your Kindle or supported Android devices later on using an internet connection.
I recently bought an app titled
The Penguins of Madagascar: The Lost Treasure of the Golden Squirrel selling for just $1.99 and it was added to my Library. My bank account in Nigeria was immediately debited in Naira for the sum of N333.9 showing that the exchange rate used was and with the money going to Amazon Digital Services.
So, Amazon's Appstore for Android is now open to Nigerians and so no need to use a US ip or US credit card when next you are buying Amazon apps from Nigeria and you can pay in Naira.
