How to know when your Aliexpress order has arrived Nigeria

I have received a lot of emails from Nigerians who shop on Chinese websites like Aliexpress asking me questions related to how long they have to wait till they receive their order or how to know if their order has arrived Nigeria. Well, as an online shopper on Aliexperss myself, I guess I could share a thing or two based on my experience with that website.

I have to first of all say that Aliexpress is one of the best places where Nigerians can save money while at the same time buying good things from China. With sites like Aliexpess and Miniinthebox, Nigerians would be able to buy a lot of things manufactured in China and have them shipped directly to them in Nigeria either through NIPOST or a faster courier service.

I have bought a lot of things from Aliexpress from Nigeria such as flash drives, computer accessories, Power banks, laptop batteries and generator parts. It really saved me money unlike if I were to buy them from Nigeria. The thing about Aliexpress is that it is designed for end users who want to save money by buying retail items at reasonable prices. You'd be surprised that you are getting about the same price wholeselers in Nigeria sell to retailers and so could save up to 50% on your shopping. However, one thing that really saves money for Aliexpress shoppers is the free worldwide shipping they offer for most of their products since they make use of Postal mail system. However, the postal mail system normally takes a lot of time and so is only recommended for the patient buyers.

I guess it's because a lot of Nigerians who shop on Aliexpress tend to go for free shipping, that is why they also tend to get anxious as to why their order has not been delivered. It is becasue it takes time. In some cases, delivery of orders from Aliexpress takes about 60 days. Yes, that's how long it took me to get my first order from them. However, most of my other orders on Aliexpress has taken at most 30 days and so when I order for stuff on Aliexpress, I make sure it's not something I need urgently since one has to be patient. If you need it urgently, then you should select a faster shipping service such as DHL or Fedex when placing your order.

Most orders on Aliexpress which come with free international shipping are mostly mailed out through China's Postal Mail system and this connects to other postal mail services till it gets to Nigeria's NIPOST. Once your mail or package has arrived Nigeria, you can always confirm it by going to NIPOST's website and tracking the order using your tracking number.

Before you place an order on Aliexpress.com, one of the things you have to first of all check is the delivery period. There is normally a delivery timeline which the buyer would normally offer together with the product and so you should first of all consider if you can wait that long or not before placing the order and also check if there are faster shipping options assuming you want to go for a quicker shipping service. Personally, I think Aliexpress' faster courier service is a bit expensive and so you should rather buy things on Amazon together with a US mail forwarder if you'd rather want to buy and get things faster.

After placing your order by making a payment on Aliexpress, the next step is to know when the seller has sent your item. You could find out by checking your Order list after about 24 or 72 hrs to see the status of your orders. You can check on individual orders by clicking the order. That page would let you know if it has been shipped by the seller since he would normally provide a tracking number for you to independently confirm it.

Once the tracking number has been provided which is normally in an alphanumeric format such as RS232323423423NL, you can use it to independently check for the status of your parcel by going to the website of the mail provider e.g. China Mail, Singapore mail or Hong Kong mail. Once you have confirmed that the seller has shipped your order, you can be rest assured that it would get to Nigeria within a few weeks.

How do you know that your Aliexpress order has finally arrived Nigeria? Well, you can do that by using that same tracking number and going to NIPOST(if it was sent by mail) website and entering the tracking number. The NIPOST website is located at nipost.gov.ng and when you are there, just navigate to Track and Confirm to enter the tracking number. Once it brings up results, you'd be able to see the local government area where your package has reached. Once it reaches the NIPOST office closest to your address, you'd also be able to know it and you should just wait for about a week or so for a notification from NIPOST that your package is available for collection. You may also go to the NIPOST office yourself if you are so much in a hurry to see if you can collect it.

Once your Aliexpress package has arrived Nigeria, you would be able to confirm it on the NIPOST website and you can go to collect it when they send you a notification letter. You would need to go back with that notification as well as a copy of your ID card. I hear they also now collect at least N500 as handling charges for packages. It seems more and more Nigerians are now using Aliexpress for shopping and NIPOST is already using it to make money.

It will finally arrive at the NIPOST offic closest to your house and from there you will be able to collect it. You can know the specific location it is by decoding the NIPOST office code that shows up in the tracking result for e.g. NGSURU means NIPOST office in Surulere.

You can pay with a Visa or Mastercard and based on my experience the Naira and Dollar cards are both accepted.

It depends on how your ordered it. If you ordered from a single seller, he will send it as a single package but if you ordered from multiple sellers, then they'll ship it as different packages.

I'm not sure about Aliexpress sending orders through containers as that's mostly done for buyers on Alibaba's website. Those ones would have to be cleared at the ports through the Customs Service and takes more time. Aliexpress mostly sells light items that can be sent through postal mail or an express courier service.

You don't need to have a NIPOST box. Just use your normal Nigerian residential address. The only thing is that NIPOST will not deliver your item to your house but will inform you when you have a package and you're to go there to collect it from them.

You should be able to track all the orders. If you are not able to track any order after or 2 weeks, then you can raise a claim and your money will be returned by Aliexpress. Some sellers are fraudulent and will not send the item. So, it's good to raise a claim to get a refund before your buyer protection period has ended so that you don't lose the payment you made. When you raise a dispute, it will now be the seller's duty to prove that he has sent the item by providing a tracking number that works.

Just wait for about 3 weeks and try checking the tracking number again. If it's still not working, you can raise a dispute afterwards. It's normally advisable to raise a dispute before 60 days after you placed your order. If you provided me with the tracking number, I could also check for you.

My GTBank mastercard works on Aliexpress and so does my other cards such as First bank and Union bank. They are all Naira cards and they work on Aliexpress. If yours is not working, go to your bank and ask them to activate it for you.

Keep checking with the NIPOST website from time to time. If NIPOST doesn't notify you before the 60 days of your order, you can always claim for a refund unless the sender can really prove that he sent it.

Well, you can use Fedex instead of DHL or UPS. I don't think it can get faster than that.
You can track your order using the tracking number given to you by the seller on the website of the courier company
You will know how much it's going to cost before placing your order. It is normally displayed close to the purchase price of the item.

It seems like the package was sent from Hong Kong. Give it at least 2 weeks after your purchase and then you can try sites like www.hongkongpost.hk/eng/tracking/ or others that track postal mail from Hong Kong.

Haveyou placed teh order yet. You should log into your Aliexpress account and go to My Aliexpress > My orders to see if you have any active orders. Then check if there is any tracking number associated with the order. If there is, then it means that you've placed an order successfully.

What does that mean? Is my parcel safe?

Yes, your item is in Nigeria. By the time it gets to your closest post office, you can go to collect it with the tracking number and your ID card.

Maybe NIPOST is still sorting packages. They'd normally send you a note when they are ready to hand it over to you. Besides, the package may also not be in your local NIPOST office yet. Have you tracked it online using the NIPOST website?

You can visit your local NIPOST office with your tracking number ans inquire about it. If the item is still not delivered to you before 60 days, you can ask back for your money from Aliexpress by opening a dispute. Make sure you do that before your buyer protection period has run out and you still did not receive it.

Wit for about 2 weeks and before your buyer protection period on Aliexpress expires. If you still did not receive a notice from your local NIPOST office, try visiting them with the tracking number. If you are still not able to collect your item before the buyer protection period ends, complain to Aliexpress and issue a dispute on your order so that a refund will be made to your account.

The item will be delivered to the closest NIPOST office close to your shipping address if your chose postal mail delivery. If you used a faster delivery like DHL, it would reach your doorstep.

You need a delivery address and not a p o box to receive stuff from Aliexpress

In most cases they will deliver but if they fail to deliver before your buyer protection period expires, you should raise a dispute so that your money will be refunded

Hi thanks for using these platform to help. Pls i ordered for 6 items on aliexpress and i got tracking number of just 1 item but in the remaining 5 they wrote " the seller is processing your order". That the order will be cancelled within 10 days if the seller did not ship it. Wat do i do and how do i get tracking numbers of the remaining items

If it has not been shipped yet by the seller, you can't get the tracking number. Wait till the sellers ships your package.
