I just received a cheque from Chitika and my name is printed on it. Chitika is one of the platforms I used to partner with as a publisher as they normally deal with online advertisers and in this way also help bloggers and website owners make money from their sites.

I had worked with Chitika in the past and recommended them as a good platform to earn money online most especially for site owners who have visitors comining from countries like the USA, UK, Canada and so on. It doesn't really have as much advertiser base in Nigeria as Google does but it doesn't mean that Nigerians can't make money with it.

I had some experience with them as a publisher in Nigeria as I used their adverts on some of my sites that receive traffic from foreign countries and I have to say that it's really a reliable way to make money online but the only problem I had with them was their payment option. They only pay by Paypal or Cheque by Postal mail and if you are living in Nigeria, you'd agreee that the 2 options are not that favourable.

Right now, Google is already paying publishers in Nigeria using direct bank wires to their Naira or Domiciliary bank accounts but Chitika is still paying with Paypal and Postal mail cheques.

Well, when I started with Chitika, the option I chose to get paid with was by means of their US issued bank cheque with the hope of depositing it in a domiciliary bank account I already had in Nigeria. Since I was already receiving cheques from Google adsense, cashing cheques from Chitika wouldn't be a problem or so I thought. Anyway, that was since 2012 and I had not been able to receive my cheque ever since.

Along the line I had to dump Chitika and go for other alternate publishing platforms like AdDynamo and Bidvertiser since Chitika's snail mail cheque never got to me. The worst thing was that when I eventually contacted Chitika, I was told that the cheque had already been cashed. How could it have been cashed if it was not sent to me. Well, I even requested that they send cheques faster through DHL or Fedex so that it doesn't get stolen or missin in the postal mail in Nigeria. They however, were not willing to oblige and so I just decided to forget the platform and stick with Adsense since their payments are more reliable.

Truth is that one can really make money with Chitika in Nigeria but it is almost impossible to get paid.

The second option fro getting paid through Chitika is by Paypal but that is a platform that didn't work in Nigeria then and still doesn't work completely now. As at 2014, Paypal only allows Nigerians to send payments and not be able to receive it so going the Paypal way was not a reliable option.

Although my earnings with Chitika had accumulated to over $400 and they claimed that they've since sent the cheque since 2014, I still had not received it yet through the postal mail service they claimed to have sent it through.

Anyway, I had since forgotten about them and focused more on other ways to make money online but yesterday, I got a mail from the post man and inside the envelope was a Chitika cheque addressed to me. It was part of my earnings as a publisher with Chitika and I even thought the cheque had been lost. It also seems that the cheque might have been updated to reflect the 1st of October 2014 even though my earnings were as far back as 2 years ago.

Anyway, It means that I can still cash this cheque since it's less than 6 months old although it might take an additional 21 working days to be credited in a Nigerian bank.

If they've sent this cheque, It means I may be able to receive my other 2 missing ones soon. I guess I might have to hold on to this one for a month or so in order to receive others and then deposit them together in my domiciliary account.

Now that Chitika has already sent my cheque, I might be tempted to rejoin the platform once again but only that this time, I'm no longer opting to be paid by their snail mail Cheque but rather I'll be using my US Paypal account.

How come they are sending the cheque in October 2014 when your earnings were in 2012?

I think they noticed that the cheque has not been cashed since and so they might have re-issued another cheque and post dated it so that I'll be able to cash it. So, it seems this might actually be a new cheque re-issued to replace the old one.
