One of the things I love Konga is doing is offering people the ability to sell things online by providing a selling platform for them.
It is so easy for sellers to sell things through Konga as all they need to do is register for a seller account, upload pictures and post their product details while they wait for customers to buy it through Konga. Once an order for their product is made, the seller gets an sms and email notification from Konga informing him that an order has been placed and the next step for the seller is to simply visit a nearby Konga drop off center and drop off their package.
While it may all seem like a simple way to sell online, there seems to be a growing problem which needs to be seriously addressed: The issue of slow service at Konga drop off points.
I've tried selling using the Konga platform but one thing that really discourages me is the long wait to physically drop off my package after a customer has placed an order for them. The whole online shopping experience on the web is great and really ok for both buyer and seller but when it comes to doing things in the physical realm like going to the drop off point to drop off your package, you may have to wait in line for a long period of time. I spent more than 1 hr the last time I tried that and so I've sort of suspended my sales for now.
Dropping off the ordered items after the customer has requested for them through Konga normally requires that the seller signs in the item at their office, gives the item to Konga staff and received and acknowledgement invoice indicating that the item is about to be shipped. It may seem so easy to do but you have to wait for a while to do so more especially as there now seems to be a growing number of online sellers on Konga without a sufficient growth in the number of Konga staff attending to them.
Going to Konga's drop off point nowadays is like going to those old generation banks in those days where one would not be in a hurry to get back to work. For now, it seems only ideal for people who are not in a hurry to go elsewhere because one would have to budget spending at least 1 or 2 hrs just to hand over their goods to Konga employees.
I've been using the drop off point at Bode Thomas Surulere and it has not really been a positive experience. At times, I try avoiding queues by coming much earlier or try returning at another time when I see a crowd at their office. It has not done much to help and I do hope that they improve on this end because it's discouraging a lot of sellers.
