If you've ever been at the the Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping(A.O.S.) mall in Surulere, you might have come to realize that certain things are not free at that place unlike some other malls across Nigeria.
The
AOS mall in Surulere is one of the coolest places to chill at if you are on the Mainland and it's located along Adeniran Ogunsanya street and very close to Bode Thomas when coming from Shitta bus stop or the National stadium. It has a lot of good facilities such as a wide 3 storey built parking place as well as Rest room facilities. Like other shopping malls to, it plays hot to top stores and outlets in Nigeria such as Shoprite, Debonairs(Pizza), KFC, Coldstone, Stanbic IBTC bank, Pharmaceutical stores and so on. It's like a one stop shopping destination for just about anyone.
If you are going there with your car for instance, you would ofcourse be glad that you at least would have access to a vast parking space but you should also bear it in mind that it's not a free service and there's actually a parking feee of about N100 to be paid per hour. This means that if you park your car for 1 hr, you'd pay at least N100 or it and if it's 3 hirs, then you'd also have to pay N300 for it before leaving.
To access the parking ground, there is a single entry point through which you'd be given a parking ticket that is logged with your entry time at the gate and with which you'd use to make your payment when you are about to leave. Your bill will be calculated when you are about to leave and you'd need to make the payment at the counter in order to be given another receipt that would give you access to the exit gate. If you make the mistake of losing your ticket or park your car overnight, your fees could be as high as N2500 or higher.
I have to say that paying for parking fees at the AOS mall is unlike what obtains at the Palms shopping mall Lekki where there are no parking fees at all. I guess in Surulere, they place a higher value on space and don't want to offer free parking since they might not be able to cope with the large number of cars that may want to park if it were a free service.
The second thing I noticed about the AOS mall is that going to the toilet or rest room is also not free. You have to pay at least N20 if you want to access their toilet. But the goo thing is that the toilet is fully serviced and air conditioned although some of their doors have been left unrepaired after being broken down. The rest room has running water, tissue paper, hand
wash gel and an infra-red hand drier with mirrors on the wall too. You'd have to pay N20 to get a ticket that gives you access to the toilet although at times, the staff don't like issuing tickets to people.
This issue of paying to use the toilet at AOS mall is also different from what obtains at the Palms shopping mall. Toilet or rest room usage is free at the Palms but you have to pay for it at Adeniran Ogusanya shopping mall in Surulere.
There is a growing number of fully serviced shopping malls across Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. They tend to have a way of attracting people as well as retail companies to setup shop and do business with them. These malls are normally fully air conditioned, has a bit of security as well as facilities that all make the place a conducive place to chill or do business.

So, this article is now outdated as there is now an equally exorbitant parking fee at the Palms Shopping mall, Lekki. This was instituted in March 2016.

It's only a matter of time before they also start charging for people to use the convenience.
